It’s my last taught module, just before my Industry Collaboration Project (ICP), and all I can say is that it’s been an interesting ride. Eight months ago today, I started this journey to securing a Master’s Degree in Digital business from Salford Business School. This is one life’s decision I cannot regret. The world we are in today is rapidly being reshaped by digital business transformation. One skill people will be looking for in this era is a digital marketing specialist. This is why I will forever cherish the decision I have made to study in Salford Business School as I will be ever more prepared to become a top ecommerce manager after my graduation. Coming from a different continent in far away Nigeria, I was not too sure of my decision as adapting to a new culture could pose a challenge to my concentration in class. But I was able to adapt quickly because of the warm reception and induction I received when I arrived. I prepared my hearts and mind for what lay ahead. I was looking forward to all the modules in the curriculum.

With a curriculum meticulously designed to intertwine the principles of digital marketing, e-commerce, and digital business, the Digital Business Program stands as a beacon for those destined to lead in the digital retail landscape. This Program offers four modules:
1. Project Management, Leadership & Skills: Planning & Control
2. Information Systems and Digital Transformation
3. Digital Business and Entrepreneurship
4. Search and Social Media Marketing.
My First Module Prepared me as An Ecommerce Manager
My first module was really interesting. Aaron Robertson took the first two weeks of the lecture. His teaching style was really interesting, as he involved some brain racking games to make the classes lively. I learnt how I can manage projects as this skill is important if I want to become a top ecommerce manager. The next two weeks were handled by Marzena Reszka. She was equally interesting and entertaining. She talked about the soft skills that employers are looking for. Now I am well equipped to utilise to skills as an ecommerce manager. The fusion of theoretical knowledge and practical application, as evidenced in our usage of the Microsoft Project Management Software, equipped me not just with the tools, but with the vision to navigate the complex digital marketplace.
My Second Module
My second module continued the momentum of valuable learning experiences. Titled “Information Systems and Digital Transformation,” this segment of my educational journey was led by Yun Chen and Marie Griffiths. Their expertise in digital infrastructure was both inspiring and insightful. Yun’s approach to teaching was to blend theoretical concepts with real-world applications, showing us how digital transformation is reshaping industries. Through case studies and group discussions, we delved into the complexities of implementing information systems within businesses, understanding both the potential rewards and the challenges. This module not only expanded my knowledge but also stoked my passion for becoming an agent of change in the digital business world.
I can apply my Third Module to being an Ecommerce Manager
The third module, “Digital Business and Entrepreneurship,” was an eye-opener. Here, Marie Griffiths, a seasoned digital strategist, took us through the journey of starting and scaling a digital business. Her lectures were filled with real world examples of people who have set up and succeeded in their own businesses. This made the classes not just educational but exceptionally motivating. We covered topics such as business model innovation, digital product development, and online customer acquisition strategies. This module was particularly impactful for me, as it equipped me with the entrepreneurial mindset and skills needed to thrive in the digital era.
My Fourth Module
Finally, the fourth module, “Search and Social Media Marketing,” was where theory met practice in the most dynamic way. In fact, before I go further, one of the practical aspect of this module is this blog post you are actually reading. Yeah, it was more of practical than theory. This module led by Mirage Islam and co-lectured by Magda Marchowska-Raza and Amir Khan has opened my eyes on why I should use Social Media to build my personal brand. Before now, I have always been a social media shy person. I was more of the consumer, if you allow me put it that way. I would open an account on different social media platforms and just leave the accounts to rust. But this module has equipped me with the right knowledge and frame of mind to position myself as an ecommerce manager and a digital marketing specialist.
Conclusion
Looking back, each module of the Digital Business Program at Salford Business School was a stepping stone towards my goal of becoming a top ecommerce manager. The diverse teaching methods, from interactive games to practical workshops, made learning engaging and effective. Moreover, the real-world insights from the instructors, all experts in their fields, provided a solid foundation for my career aspirations.
